Chiropractic offices have many options for tools to run smoothly. Choosing the proper software can be a step in the right direction. Platinum System Software is one of those chiropractic office tools that can include Electronic Health Records (EHR) to make the front office and back office work together seamlessly.
Features of Platinum System Software
Platinum System is touted as being the “#1 Chiropractic Software Worldwide”. It is affordable, provides instant customer service (for hardware and software), and it even has a free 1 year trial (with a low monthly support and training fee). Platinum System contains automatic USA insurance payments posting, it has an Efficiency Control System (ECS), a credit card processor, and a “care plan management system”. This software can help the chiropractor spend more time with patients, knowing that at the end of the day the billing and SOAP notes are taken care of. During the day, chiropractors are relieved of paperwork, and they can see their patients’ records and X-rays via the software system. What makes chiropractic software especially helpful is that it assists the office in reducing errors, keeps track of notes and exams, takes care of billing, and it can make the office run more efficiently. An efficient office can treat patients more thoroughly, and it can handle an increased patient load. Platinum System has had products around since 2001. They “invented the sign-in computer, calling module, integrated care plan management, Auto-billing capability, electronic travel card, X-ray storage, (and) Chiropractic Health Cards”.
How it Works
With the Chiropractic Health Cards, patients sign themselves in. The files can automatically note when payments are due, when the next exam will be, and insurance verification. The patients are sequenced by the Arrival List, freeing the CA staff to provide education and therapies to clients. The Calling System manages the patient flow. The Electronic Health Record keeps track of the patient’s history, SOAP notes, appointments and compliance, X-rays, thermal scans, and more. SOAP notes are entered using a touch pad or touch screen. This makes data entry fast, it saves time, and it improves the quality of note-taking. During check-out, patients are automatically billed, and messages are easily transmitted to the front office. As for customer service, Platinum System calls their response “instant”. In terms of training, they follow a “Do it yourself” methodology. There are tutorials offered, but they “prefer personalized support and service”.
Platinum System Software, according to the company, will not be certified—in order to “benefit…chiropractors”. The system can assist chiropractors in avoiding potential audits, reducing workload, and improving efficiency. They provide “instant response service and support”. However, the reasoning behind not pursuing certification is that the product is very affordable, and there are many costs associated with meeting the “3 stages of meaningful use” required for certification. Guidelines for certification changes will be staged through 2015. The “meaningful use” objectives have to do with a $44,000 EHR incentive that some chiropractors may be seeking. Platinum System states the following: “We believe chiropractors do not need other audits in their practice and should put most of their time, money and energy on patients”. Therefore, as an alternative, the Platinum System Software offers chiropractors a guarantee that they will “increase their profit by at least $88,000 over a period of 5 years”. Instead of pursuing EHR incentives, the software itself is said to increase income and lower expenses.
