Spinal therapy can consist of massage, chiropractic adjustments, physical therapy or even acupuncture. There are many different spinal therapies available to a patient. Typically patients experience spine pain due to upper back or lower back pain, this can trigger pain or discomfort within the spine.
Chiropractor
Some patients may also receive spinal manipulation therapy. This is a treatment that actually helps with acute or chronic spinal back or back pain. This is a process that can be completed by a licensed chiropractor. The spinal manipulation technique actually helps to increase the overall flexibility or range of motion within in the spine. Patients typically feel an instant and lasting relief after the first treatment. The usual stiffness or tightened areas will actually be broken down overtime. Some patients may need only a few spinal manipulation therapies to feel pain relief, while others may need more. This will depend on the severity of the diagnosis.
Massage
Another option a patient has is to receive a spinal therapy massage. This massage helps to relieve the pressure and tension felt around the spinal areas. Spinal therapy massage is not offered by all massage therapists. You can typically find these specialized massages in sports therapy centers, or sports rehabilitation clinics, chiropractic offices or even physical therapy clinics. Some patients may feel relief with their first massage while others may need to be seen more than two or three times a month. Your massage therapists can usually help you decide how many treatments you may need in order to feel lasting pain relief within the spinal areas.
