Massaging Techniques

Massage

Upper Back

Start by evenly spreading massage oil on your client’s spine and begin working your way up to the lateral muscle located below the armpit.  Circle back up around the trapezius kneading firmly over it and rub back down the spine to the lower back.  Making circle motions over the back in a long smooth stroke and try not to take your hands off of the client’s body.  You can make your own massage motions over their back and keep your fingers and palms on either side of the spine.  Move your hands to their shoulder blades and run your thumbs around the area, kneading out all the knots in the area.  Repeat for until you feel the tension being released from their muscles.  Apply more oil if necessary and remember to take your time.

Arms

With massage oil, glide your hands from their shoulder blade, down to their palms and fingers.  Move back up to their biceps and perform about 40 strokes kneading the knots out the muscle and work your way to their elbow.  Without applying too much pressure, work your way to their forearms.  Your clients fingers will move naturally when you apply the downwards stroke to their arms.  This massage is great for people who work on computers or use their hands all day.  In their palms, do a small circle motion and slowly move their fingers in a circular motion.  Glide up back to the arm and move on to the next arm and repeat the same process.
