There are many different types of massages and treatments available to clients.  Each massage therapist and massage administered is unique.  Your massage therapist will set up a consultation before your massage.  During this time you should express any previous underlying issues that may interfere with your massage.

When to consult your Doctor

If you are pregnant or if you underwent a recent surgery that may cause pain, you need to consult with your doctor before starting any regimen.  In normal circumstance you will want to let your massage therapist know of what areas you are experiencing the most pain or problems.  This will help them focus on releasing any knots or strain within that area.

Types of Massage

You may want also want to ask your massage therapist to work on just your back and neck, or to administrator a full body massage.  A full body massage will include your legs, arms, feet, back, neck, shoulders and face.  Massage therapists may also use aromatherapy oils, creams, and medicated lotions during or at the end of your massage.  These will vary at each location and are typically available upon request.  If you are allergic to a product you may ask for an alternative lotion or cream to be used during your massage.
