How to Give a Massage

How to Give a MassageThere are many aspects on how to give a massage.  Moreover, there is the question of how to give a good massage.  Usually, patients seek massage from a professional.  However, patients can perform massage at home.  Of course, a number of factors make up a good massage depending on the person being massaged.  First, it is important to create a soothing atmosphere to encourage relaxation.  For example, one can turn the lights off, play music, light candles, and even burn incense.  Second, massage oils reduce friction and essential oils emit a calming scent.  Specifically, tea tree oil kills bacteria and eucalyptus oil relieves muscle and joint pain.  Patients should avoid any essential oils that they are allergic to.  Third, different techniques are used for how to give a massage to different parts of the body.1

How to Give a Back Massage

How to Give a MassageForemost, the person being massage should lie face down on a supportive surface.  Additionally, a small pillow or towel placed under the shoulder can ease neck tension.  The person performing the massage should stand or kneel over the other person, and body weight can be used to add pressure.  Then, they should rub a small amount of massage oil between their hands.  Effleurage, a style of massage that uses long strokes, should be used to massage the back first.  Next, they can knead the muscles using petrissage.  Moreover, they can use loose fists to rub the lower back.  They should not rub the spine.  Later, a neck massage can be performed when the person being massaged is lying face down or sitting in a chair.  Specifically, the fingers are used to massage and rub the neck and head.  Of course, it should not be painful.2

How to Give a Foot Massage

Another common area of attention in massage is the foot.  How to give a massage for feet is similar to other areas of the body.  First, the person receiving the massage can lie face up or sit in a chair.  Next, how to give a massage for the feet uses the same techniques as how to give a massage for the hands.  Specifically, the toes are rubbed and gently pulled away from the foot.  Then, the person giving the massage can apply pressure to the sole, heel, and ball of the foot using the thumbs.  Additionally, the other fingers will naturally move along the foot to follow the thumbs and provide further relaxing touch.  After, loose fists can be used to massage the arch of the foot.  Moreover, they use a similar technique to the knuckle massage on the lower back.3

How to Give a Prostate Massage

How to Give a MassageA prostate massage is an intimate style of massage that can be performed in certain situations between comfortable parties or self-massage.  Specifically, the second leading cause of death in men is prostate cancer.  Fortunately, a prostate massage can help prevent prostate cancer.  When a man orgasms, the prostatic fluid is oxygenated and expels biological, fungal, and viral contaminants.  The contaminants build up over time, and massage rids the body of them and increases lymphocyte production that helps the body fight off cancer naturally.  Additionally, prostate orgasms break down calcifications that cause prostatitis.  Every man should learn how to give a massage to their prostate, and partners can also help.  First, the area should be cleaned, and the patient should relax.  Then, they should perform masturbation and anal play to find and stimulate the prostate.  Additionally, patients should get regular prostate exams.4

Therapeutic Properties of Massage

In addition to relaxation, there are many beneficial properties of massage therapy.  Of course, the knowledge of how to give a massage and use its healing properties has been around for a very long time.  In fact, modern research has shown that massage can help manage many conditions.  Massage can help patients who suffer from chronic low back pain, delayed onset muscle soreness, anxiety, stress, soft tissue injuries, high blood pressure, and insomnia.  It can also help people who are dealing with chronic diseases and life-threatening illnesses.  Unfortunately, massage therapy cannot cure the serious conditions.  However, it can help ease some of the discomfort.  Additionally, massage therapy reduces muscle tension, improves circulation, stimulates the lymphatic system, increases joint flexibility, improves skin tone, and aids soft tissue injury recovery.  Massage can be very useful and learning how to give a massage is important.5

Different Styles of Massage

How to Give a MassageOf course, there are many different styles of massage.  Myotherapy, remedial massage, therapeutic massage, lymphatic drainage, aromatherapy, baby massage, reflexology, shiatsu, and sports massage are all commonly used styles of massage therapy.  One aspect of how to give a massage is knowing which style to use.  Usually, most forms of massage therapy are left to the professionals.  First, myotherapy treats soft tissue pain and dysfunction.  Second, remedial massage addresses biomechanical dysfunction.  Third, therapeutic massage is also known as Swedish massage.  It is the most popular style of massage.  Fourth, lymphatic drainage helps the immune system.  Fifth, aromatherapy adds therapeutic essential oils to the massage therapy.  Sixth, baby massage can address infantile constipation, colic, and sleeping problems.  Seventh, reflexology addresses reflex points in the body to stimulate the natural healing process.  Eighth, shiatsu is meant to improve energy flow.  Ninth, sports massage is used to treat athletes.6

Massage Therapy and Chiropractic Care

Often, chiropractic care and massage therapy go hand-in-hand.  Learning how to give a massage is just one factor, and professional treatment from massage therapists and chiropractors can help patients manage serious issues.  Primarily, chiropractic care provides the majority of the treatment.  Secondarily, massage therapy complements chiropractic treatment.  In many cases, massage therapists and chiropractors share an office for treatment.  Chiropractic care restores function to the nervous system through natural, manual manipulation.  Spinal misalignment can cause a variety of issues, and chiropractic care aims to bring the body back into alignment.  Massage therapy complements chiropractic care by aiding relaxation and encouraging the body to heal itself.  Usually, both therapies aim to provide treatment without medications.  Patients who are unsure about the efficacy of chiropractic care and massage therapy can consult their primary care provider to learn more.  Moreover, everyone needs some extra care sometimes.7
