Chiropractics As Pain Therapy

Chiropractic Medicine

Do you seek out conventional or alternative health care for pain therapy?  Most Americans take a conventional medical approach when it comes to treating pain or any other medical condition.  What most people don’t know however is that OTC pain relievers as well as prescriptions only temporarily mask the pain not eliminate it.

Chiropractic Care

Chiropractors go to school to learn how to safely and effectively treat common complaints such as: Whiplash, headaches, migraines, Torticollis, rotator cuff problems, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Bursitis, Tendonitis, Sciatica, Piriformis Syndrome, ITB Syndrome, TFL contractures, TMJ Disorder, Sinusitis, Ear infections, and many more.  A Chiropractor will perform a physical examination and sometimes even x-rays to appropriately determine a diagnosis.  He or she will then use static and kinetic palpation to find areas of mis-alignment or subluxation within the spine and/or extremities.  They will deliver an HVLA (high-velocity low-amplitude) thrust in the line of drive of the mis-alignment.  They may also incorporate physiotherapy, massage therapy, and acupuncture to the chiropractic treatments as well.  Most Chiropractors will educate their patients on the differences between conventional and alternative health care.  They will further explain the importance of the nervous system, innate intelligence, and restoring homeostasis to the human body.  The nervous system is the most important system in the entire human body because it controls and coordinates every organ system and body part.  A subluxation may apply pressure on a nerve root causing local pain and inflammation.  Each individual vertebra corresponds with a specific nerve and organ.  When the vertebra is out of alignment, the organ or body part may not function at optimum capacity.  It’s important to realize the benefits of all alternative health care practices and when each one is appropriate.
