There are an abundance of schools that have added massage therapy programs to their educational resumes and most schools and universities have very similar curriculums that they offer. Massage at National University of Health Sciences located Lombard, Illinois is offered as an educational program with the choice of the two different outcomes. NUHS offers massage as either an Associate of Applied Sciences degree or as a massage certification. NUHS requires a completed application, high school transcripts, two letters of recommendation from non-family members, proof of age and completion of an Intro to Massage course. Educational requirements include a high school degree with 2.0 GPA or higher or a student to be GED certified. If a student chooses to receive their AAS from NUHS, thirty-three general education credits are required from an accredited educational institution prior to beginning the massage program.

 Requirements

     National University of Health Sciences offers massage courses throughout the year on a trimester system. Massage programs begin three times per year starting in January, May and September. The program is held during the evenings and if a student is registered for a full-time course load, the program can be completed in one year, or three trimesters. A student will be required to successfully complete thirty-one and a half course credits as well as any elective courses if registered. There are a total of six hundred and forty-five clock hours throughout the three trimesters and this amount includes two trimesters of clinical internship. Some of the courses required to successfully complete include anatomy/physiology I and II, massage fundamentals, medical terminology, ethics, chair massage, trigger point therapy, sports massage, wellness, clinical assessment, orthopedics, special populations and ethical practice management.
