A diverse array of Massage Therapy institutes exist throughout the United States.  In Alabama, the Massage Therapy Institute exists as a possible choice for Massage Therapy career education.  The program lasts one academic year and costs a little over $7,000.  The program includes 670 instructional hours that consist of several components.  250 of the hours are dedicated to Massage Therapy theory as well as the application of the philosophical principles.  The instruction will make graduates competent through education on potential benefits of Massage Therapy as well as an internship. 

Science-based education

Science-based education consisting of Physiology, Anatomy, and the study of Disease as it pertains to Massage Therapy contribute to 176 hours of instruction.  The sciences will make students highly skilled at identifying and treating musculoskeletal injuries and abnormalities.  The sciences will also make students aware of situations in which patients should be referred to other health care professionals.  40 hours will be devoted to exercise principles and techniques that can enhance patient care. 

Kinesiology
