Disc herniation can be treated.  A patient’s treatment options will vary based on the severity of the actual diagnosis.  It’s vital for a patient to see their chiropractic or medical doctor in order for them to make a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.  If you are experiencing weakness within your muscles, pain, and numbness within your spine or even stinging tingling sensations it’s important for you to get checked out by your doctor.  A doctor will generally take an MRI and x-ray of the spinal region.  In this MRI, the doctor can see the abnormalities within the spine and make a firm diagnosis for the patient.  There are different types of disc herniation.  Some patients may experience a herniation within the lower region, while others will experience a herniation within the cervical upper region.  The placement of the disc herniation will definitely determine the treatment plans and options for that patient.  In most cases, disc herniation can be cured with a number of natural methods.  A doctor will normally prescribe and give different options to the patient.  Medical doctors may also suggest seeing a Chiropractor as they can adjust and realign the spine back into its natural position.  A Chiropractor can also offer traction devices, and different electrical devices.  These will assist in the healing process and help to speed up the recovery time for the patient.  A patient may also be asked to see a physical therapist, or to perform exercises and stretches at home.  These exercises will help to stretch the muscles within the back to alleviate the pain felt by the disc herniation.   In more severe cases, patients may be asked to partake in surgery. This is generally the last and final option for the patient, as surgery is expensive and can cause more damage if it isn’t used as last resort.
