Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpel Tunnel affects thousands of people across the world.  It can cause drastic unbearable pain and extreme numbness in the hands and arms.  It’s imperative that a patient seek treatment if they are experiencing reoccurring swelling, tingling or pain within their hands and arms.  If the carpel tunnel is left untreated it will progressively get worse.  The patient’s options for care can become extremely expensive if the symptoms aren’t treated properly. The treatment options can vary significantly for a patient.

Symptoms

The symptoms of carpel tunnel always progress overtime.  Patients aren’t born with carpel tunnel syndrome, nor are they adapted to getting it at an early age. Typically patients are with carpel tunnel are in physical jobs for years that require them to type or use their arms repetitively on a daily basis.  People that are in jobs that require heavy labor such as construction workers, movers or even factory workers are often seen with carpel tunnel issues. The strain on the fingers and hands and repetitive motion contributes to most all of the carpel tunnel cases.  In most all cases, most of the patients are women in their adult years.   Men and children don’t often suffer from carpel tunnel and very few cases have been found with younger adults.  If you believe you are experiencing these symptoms its imperative you visit your doctor to prevent any further nerve damage to the wrists, arms or hands.

Carpal Tunnel Treatment

The treatments options truly depend on the diagnosis and severity of the carpel tunnel syndrome. The doctor will often prescribe medication along with recommendations to exercise and stretch the muscles.  Patients with more extreme cases may look into acupuncture or surgery. There are several different approaches to carpel tunnel surgery and the surgery procedures will depend on the severity of the carpel tunnel.  Your doctor will recommend either an endoscopic surgery or even an open surgery to be performed.
