Back Ache
Back aches can be very painful and unbearable. Often back aches are minor but in some cases they can be a result of a major injury or disease. Back aches are very common in women and men. Back aches are also frequently seen in teenagers that partake in sports or strenuous activities. Back pain can also be caused from improper lifting, bad posture, weight gain or prior traumatic injuries. It’s important that a patient seek medical advice if the back pain worsens or becomes unbearable, this can be a sign of a serious sprain or injury within the body. It’s essential the patient get x-rayed to ensure no damage has occurred.
Causes
A lot of back aches are also found in patients that have experienced a recent trauma or car accident. The car accident can cause a sprain in the back that will result in the back pain or twinge felt by the patient. Many obese patients also suffer from chronic back pain. The extra weight gain causes the body to put pressure on the discs and structure of the back. Older patients will also experience back aches as a result from getting older. The aging process causes the actual cushioning between the discs in the back to diminish overtime. In turn, the lack of cushioning causes the friction in the back to rub right against the disc causing tremendous back pain for the patient. The force on these discs can be very painful if left untreated.
Treatment
Back aches can be treated with medication, exercise, chiropractic care, or even homeopathic treatments. There are many different treatment options available to a patient, your doctor will generally recommend a treatment option tailored to you to ensure the back pain symptoms diminish. Patients may choose to also see an acupuncturist or a holistic doctor. These are great approaches for someone who has symptoms that don’t require surgery or drastic therapies. Massage therapy is also great for those who have mild symptoms or mild back aches. Massage will help to release the stress and tension felt in the back muscles.
