Have you sought various treatments for back relief? Almost 90% of all Americans will experience some sort of back pain within their lifetime. This is common reason for increased absenteeism in the workplace. Most individuals take the conventional over-the-counter pain relievers such as Advil, Tylenol, or Aspirin. Unfortunately, these medications only temporarily mask the pain and can eventually lead to harmful side effects such as liver and kidney problems in the future.
Chiropractic care
The ultimate goal is to find the cause of the underlying reason for the back pain. This is exactly what a Chiropractor will do. He or she will take a physical examination and possible x-rays to correctly diagnose the patient. Once they have a diagnosis in hand, they use palpation both static and kinetic to locate areas of subluxation, or mis-alignment. Next, they will deliver a gentle thrust to correct this subluxation in the correct line of drive. The patient will most likely hear a “popping” sort of noise; this is normal nitrogen gas being released from the joint which is a normal response to an adjustment. The patient might experience slight discomfort following an adjustment that should last no more than two days, especially if it’s the first adjustment received. The muscles are not used to being in the correct position so they will sometimes spasm and cause pain. The Chiropractor will usually suggest applying an ice pack to the affected area for twenty minutes, followed by twenty minutes off, and repeating as necessary.
Other Therapies
They may also incorporate physiotherapy to the treatments as well such as ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation, decompression, cold laser, diathermy, inter-segmental traction, and exercises for rehabilitation. In addition to the Chiropractic adjustments and physiotherapy, massage therapy and acupuncture may also be indicated depending on the severity of the condition. There’s no reason to suffer with back pain, relief is available in many different alternative health care professions.
